IGAD MONTHLY DIGEST 001

The November 2025 issue of the IGAD Monthly Digest highlights a series of high-level regional initiatives focused on peace, security, governance, and climate resilience across the Horn of Africa. Central to this issue are the 3rd IGAD Governance Forum, which explored the role of democratic institutions in promoting stability , and the 2nd Forum of Special Envoys, which aimed to harmonize international mediation efforts for the Sudan peace process. The digest also details strategic efforts to combat transnational threats, such as a bilateral workshop between Ethiopia and Uganda on human trafficking , and the promotion of digital inclusion through a regional forum on women, digital security, and artificial intelligence. Furthermore, IGAD advanced its long-term development goals by validating a ten-year strategy for irrigation and agricultural water management and celebrating Ethiopia’s selection as the host for COP32, signaling a reinforced commitment to African climate leadership.
